"It makes me drink beer" hahaha. Funny guy. Did those irish fellows really took a trip to california and made a soundtrack of it? I love that song. They really captured the feeling of my gay dream for takin that same trip.

Gay dreams are made to be true. Somehow.

Huh?

Let me put it this way...Pop is static quality.

What is pre-pop?...Dynamic quality.

Dear Mr Wizard.

What is static quality?

Oh yeah Pirsig!

I did read some of his stuff many moons ago. He's a cool fellow. I'm not sure I buy his philosophical system, it's interesting stuff none the less, but it never sat very well with me.

Then, per Persigs definition, Isn't all music static?

music that exist has a static level of quality. (use these latched-in static levels as a foundation to compare new music to).

Live music (except in Van Halens case) is dynamic. meaning the universe does not yet know what note will exist.

an individuals quality (song) will morally evolve. Its the force of change. Free will to choose any song.

Can we list morally evolved songs?
in notes?
in beats?
in words?
Devolved?

'I will choose Free Will'
(and this choice evolves my DNA)

most pop songs end on a good note.

Hmmmm.

Sorry. No offense, but this is sounding fishy, bordering on meaningless? Perhaps a little less "Pirsig Speak" may help clarify?

I'm happy to play along, but you will need to define a few Buzz words.

The universe? And what exactly is that? That word is tossed around in Zen language allot as well...Im not so sure it's a good thing.

"Morally evolved songs" ? Define morality please. I find it a rather subjective and meaningless term.

Does a song evolve?

Free Will? Really? Man, the Postmodernists sure would disagree. Check out "Rational Mysticism: Dispatches from the Border Between Science and Spirituality" by John Horgan on why. I think Im inclined to agree with them.

I dunno. Defining music using dynamic and static placeholders seems rather narrow to me.
