Recording Diary v12 (12/07/07)
The Hog showed up and we pluged in his Kimbal organ. The Kimbal organ is kinda like the organ that every grandma had in the 60's. It rules and we use it live as well.
Thomas placed textural keys on the song using the Line 6 delay for the echoes etc. We added a nice "Floyd" like chord to the main section that's gonna pan out nicely in the mix. We did about 5 or 6 tracks of the Kimbal.
We may add a Ebow guitar on a few parts and we also need to to tighten up an out of key vocal that Ill redo on Sat.
Otherwise "I'm Your Ring Tone" is in the bag!
Next!

I know nothing about all that music creating techno stuff, but sure enough want to hear the result!
What I like about these diaries is the insight into the creative process it gives. Great!
Yea what Howard said. But why go to all the trouble of recording something, if you can't play it live or can you?
Interesting question.
This depends on how you define a band I guess.
Personally I don't care all that much if the song can be created live, as I believe the two (studio and live performance) are different beasts. If it sounds like shit live, we don't play it.
So I don't think about the live arrangement all that much, rather I'm interested in the arrangement that best suits the song. We work out the live stuff later.
So, at the end of the day, our live thing is different from our recorded thing. Not a massive difference, but enough.
Keeps things fun.
