Recording Diary v14 (12/14/07)

Tonight we worked some more on the new tune "Nice To Know You".

I played a simple keyboard part of the Kimbal for the verses and we experimented with and Ebow on the bass. Sadly this did not yield many results, so we switched to guitar and managed to get a semblance of a part. I think our Ebow is busted though...

Then we did a very rough mix.

So here it is, in a very preliminary form. The vocals are still a bit rough and pitchy and I'm pretty sure it will be half this long when we edit and mix it.

But for the sake of showing the process..

I listened it 10 times in a row... I dare to say that the album(?) will definetly contain some very VERY good "let's make Shakki cry like little baby" material.

Jesus Christ you guys rule.

The Residents Vs. Radiohead after 11 beers outside the stadium where 50cent is rapin young minds. yes rape. not rap.

It's crazy that you guys can make music that fits perfectly to the finnish christmas atmosphere, the sun comes up at 11am and goes down at 1pm. It's cold as hell and there ain't no chicks around for my love.

Howard, what do you think about this incredible piece of new mbo raw material?

Thanks Shakki!

MBO is gonna move to Finland so we can make holiday music.

It's our new back up plan.

Yes Thanks for sharing..very nice. Its like opening an early christmas present. joy.

(Although I hope Gomes pounds a drum track over that corny Bossa nova organ loop.)

upon further review...I guess it works. definitely MBO.

Cheers

though the music is very disimilar - there is a band called incubus in which the chorus is pretty much identical - just thought Id point that out in case you never heard of them...

hahaha that's funny that incubus joke.

There is also DANNY quite similar. Look it up.

Incubus?

Weird. I'd be fibbing if I said I never heard of them. I can say that I don't know their stuff at all.

This shit happens all the time, but I usually will recognize the song that leaked into my writing sub-conscience. Maybe they use an Autoharp to write song too!

I wish you said that it was a Beatles song instead. I'm pretty sure the Beatles are better.

Dude, if you guys start doing Incubus stuff then I'm down with Yngwie Malmsteen.

MBO is The Beatles meets Pink Floyd at the Radiohead studio.

Hope you don't mind... but I've decided it's a break-up song. In fact... fuck it, I'm the listener... I'll interpret it how I see fit. (Could also be because I'm possibly going though one right now)
I suppose that's the beauty of music... everyone has their own unique relationship with a song.

It's about the death of something precious. So "break up song" works just fine.
