Gear Porn: MF/FM Moogerfrooger Joke?

My Sweet Bleeding God. FUCK I want this. FUCK!

The MF/FM has an on-board analog radio tuner, capable of locking into frequencies across the FM radio band. Mix any instrument with live radio signals, and tweak the voltage controlled oscillator for modulated madness and creativity.

The MF/FM accepts instrument to line-level input and the signal is passed through drive and mix circuits (for dry/wet balance). The VCO section features frequency and waveform knobs, all controllable with an expression pedal.

Ok, so this thing is releasing April 1st. So it may be a joke. But if it is then it's a fucked up (stupid) joke. Only stupid because I want it.

Something Useful For Once...

So I could be posting about music again, but that's boring. I'd much rather delight in these new cleavers that combine a cleaver and a cutting board!

Sweet!

Buddah Machine

This thing makes odd ambiant loops at the press of a single button. That's it. It does nothing else. It rules.

Japan Prison

Here's a fasinating story (via Boing Boing) of a guy who spent some time in a Japanese prison. Not a place that I'd like to visit...

Genesis "Lamb" Bootleg

Not that it needs restating but this boot again shows that Genesis were a remarkable live beast. Here's the "Lamb" (and a few killer encores) in all of it's glory provided by Wolfgangs Vault.

Dear Ler. Buy This.

This thing uses the same pitch-shifting chip that children's toys use to emulate Godzilla and Robots etc. Then it mixes the signal with some distortion. Plus it has a light sensor and vibrato.

I don't even have to hear it to know it's the best thing ever made on earth. The website has nothing on it yet, but I'm sure it will be for sale soon.

Defective By Design's DRM Action Alert

Last month, Steve Jobs told the world that he thought DRM was dumb and pointless. He pledged to ditch it on the iTunes Music Store, if only the 4 major music labels would let him. He told us that it was up to the consumers to take action, and that there was nothing he could do, his hands were tied, so to speak. Since then the internet has been abuzz with all kinds of theories and ideas about what Jobs was thinking, and the things he could do to show his commitment.

We have drafted an open letter to Steve Jobs asking him to take action and show us that his DRM diatribe represents a pledge that he'll make good on, and not just a prank to divert attention and criticism from Apple.

Visit DefectiveByDesign now to sign the letter and see the countdown to April 1, the deadline by which we have asked Jobs to demonstrate his commitment, otherwise we'll know that his posturing is just an attempt to play us the fool.

Help spread the word by Digging this story and telling your friends.

In Solidarity,

Gregory, Peter, Henri and the DRM Elimination Crew
