Fat Guy Stuck In The Internet

These films have been floating around a bit and they are pretty funny. Funny enough for Adult Swim to toss some cash at.

New Music Service

Peter Gabriel has launched a new music download service called we7 that uses an advertisement model to make money rather than crippling the music with a dumb DRM. Looks interesting, although I'm not sure why they don't hype the artists in their catalog more.

Overheard...

Perceptive woman: Anytime you overhear people, if you only hear a second of what they say, it's always completely stupid.

I Want a Robot

This rules. I should have paid attention in science class instead of sneaking off to do bong hits behind the mini gym. This clip also proves that the robots at MSNBC are clearly not pleased with other robot disclosures.

Run Lola Run. Extended Remix

Daniel Shiffman has set up a system with thousands of pixel cells, all playing Run Lola Run, each one frame ahead of the next, spread out across a bank of displays. It's cool.

Delicate Choir People.

A group of choir members where so offended by this relatively tame (and funny) monologue by Mike Daisey they they all pulled a Flash Mob routine and left en mass during his performance. Word has it they were Christians? None the less, the walk out is no big deal, been done before, but when one useless fuck actually pours water on Mike's work, well that when they (all) prove to be retarded fucks. Daisey handles it well enough...What a bunch of cowards.

Vatican Sets The Children Free

Just so everyone is clear, per the Vaticans directive, unbaptized babies NOW go to heaven and not Limbo. So all the lil kids waiting wide eyed (like lil Keane paintings) now get a direct express to heaven, where I assume they can now play with puppies and kitty cats.

The Vatican also has hinted that they may allow the Easter Bunny to meet with the Tooth Fairy in a Catholic funded "Middle East Think Tank".

MBO420 Show.

Back from the west Oakland 420 show. We basically just opened up our large sliding door, turned the PA out to our parking lot and did our set. By all accounts it went wonderfully, as people were very kind with their compliments. I can never fucking tell.

We Played

1.Ambien
2.Idiot Jones
3.Drowning Not Waving
4.Please Stay
5 Kicking The Can
6 Occams Razor

And Another Fucking Opinion

Here we go again. The moral examination of our culture.

The talk show/pundit condemnation of the images shown of the human shit bag Cho Seung-Hui on TV are nothing but thinly veiled political gestures. We all know that usually at the end of these condemnations their are always calls for "reforms" and eventually an adherence to some moral platform.

It seems to me that the world will always be interested in unhinged minds that act out violently. Why? My guess is we are fascinated by motivation, that we are and always have been titillated by horrific violence and death, and that we are intrigued by the contextual aspects of violence (was it a war, innocents killed, etc). And after all, death is the only guaranteed metaphysical experience we have and we are awestruck with it. Rightly so.

So some say we should focus more on the positive, that we are unnecessarily obsessing and celebrating the denigration of the human condition. I maintain this fascination with the ugly issues of world has always been true, the only difference being is that now we have more exposure (via our media) to the sometimes horrific nature of our minds. It's also naive to ignore that their are also reasonable economic and social concerns that need to be considered when we choose to ignore bad news.

Pointing the finger at the media is an old and feeble trick that always backfires. It backfires because ultimately we (on a whole) do not subscribe to rigid moral laws. You will hear many bemoaning this fact in these upcoming months. Personally I celebrate it.

And complain all you want. History proves that we have always been fucked up, pretending we are not doesn't make it any less so. And conversely (and more importantly) history also shows that in many ways, our humanity, our empathy towards other people, is steadily improving.

Just because it's difficult to see grass growing doesn't mean it's not.

Our dear friend Thomas "The Tech Hog" has jumped aboard the rat infested ship of MBO, playing a unique assortment of keyboards (Kimball Melody Maker Organ, Wurilizer Electric Piano and other weird crud). Our pal Mirv will also be sitting in this Friday, playing a huge hollow body guitar and making moose sounds.

We sound better because of them.

We just got a FastMatt circuit bent Speak And Read that is a delight to behold. I expect we will soon be plugging this thing into a very large PA and running it through some delays etc. The results will most likely disturb every dog in a 15 mile radius.

The More You Give. The More They Take

Looks like the Bush administration is again lobbying to expand the governments surveillance authority via eavesdropping etc.

I'm not quite sure how much the American people will take, being the FBI just admitted to misuses of the Patriot Act.

And so much for the Republican small government wet dream. Bush's government seems to get bigger every day.

Fuck these clowns..

Dry Hump Sanjaya.

OK. I admit that I've never seen American Idol more than once, not because I feel it's below me or anything, I just don't own a TV. But I am delighted to see the ground swell of support for this guy, because supporting him truly fucks with the credibility of a show that celebrates the Safe, and the Bland. Plus Howard is behind the campaign and Howard rules.

The Uber List

(From Boing Boing)

"The Office of Foreign Asset Control's list of "specially designated nationals" is a list of people who might be terrorists. Or might have the same names as terrorists. Or might sound like the same name as a terrorist. Or might sound like a name that a terrorist might make up, but hasn't."

Basically your fucked if your on this list. So the next question is how did these people get on this list, and do we trust this process?

Here's the list

Grant Morrison Talks. Stoned. Ripping

Here's a wonderful talk from the Invisibles creator Grant Morrison at a Disinfo convention a few years back. I believe he said he was on mushrooms and drunk during this talk.

In a related note: I was in LA for a meeting this week and saw a poster for a film called "The Invisible" and I instantly thought "That freak Morrison managed to get his books made into a film! Hail Eris!" Then I read the fine print only to discover that the "Invisible" film is just another dumb ass Hollywood regurgitating of the Sixth Sense. JUST what the world needs!

One day. One day.

And the rest of the lecture (2-5) is here..
