Recording Diary v25
Mirv came down to the Theosophy Center and recorded some acoustic guitar tracks on "Catch".
We wrangled a rhythm part and some harmony lines out of him. Then he went home. Took three or fours hours. A successful evening.
The following Saturday we then recorded all the vocals on "Solomon Grundy". Lots of vocals. An inordinate amount of vocals. Lead, lead doubled in areas, harmonies, back ground, back ground harmonies. That was difficult, but it went well enough. Next up for "Solomon" is recording the Bass for real, as what we have down now is just the basic parts.
I also managed a harmony line for "Catch". That song is almost done, all we need to do is record some Ebow lines and it's complete.
Now if I could just find my Ebow.
Hard at work, those MBO boys.

I have your Ebow
Hey, thinking about harmonies, did you have as much work on Self Replicating Machine Elves ? These vocals were so hypnotic...
Mirv STOLE my ebow!!!
You will pay the torments of Gruel
..Harmonies
If I recall that tune (and Nerve Pill) took some time to sing. Lots o parts. "Solomon Grundy"is the first song on this new album that contains the same vocal "thickness".
Poor me. Poor me.
Machine Elves was much deeper. I do remember the levels we went into on the vox for that one. So worth it in the end.
Poor, poor me. ;)
Worth it, you said it ! ;)
